I was able to run the generic "HD Audio" Windows 7 drivers and the issue went away - however the barebones drivers don't provide any enhancements or tweakability. I contacted MSI support and they said to wait 4-6 weeks for a driver update from Realtek (i.e. you're SOL buddy). So, I just ended up getting an ASUS XONAR DG PCI sound card.
